3D Laser Scanning
What is 3D Laser Scanning
3D laser scanning is a process of using a laser scanner to capture detailed measurements and create a highly accurate 3D model of an object or environment.
This process involves the use of a laser scanner that captures large amounts of data points. This data is used to create a 3D point cloud (a collection of individual data points plotted in 3D space).
Once the point cloud is created, software is used to convert the data into a digital model, which can then be used to create accurate and detailed as built drawings as well as virtual reality models, BIM models and other sets of measurement plans
Benefits of 3D Laser Scanning
Rapid Measurement
What once took hours upon hours if not days using traditional measuring methods has been reduced in time by 50-70%. 3D Laser Scans can capture data from multiple angles and positions simultaneously, which further increases efficiency and reduces the time required for data collection.
Extreme Detail
The 3D data captured through the scanning process is so comprehensive, that almost every detail is recorded. There is a very low percentage of error along with minimal chance of anything being excluded from the scan.
